Privacy Policy

How Packminder handles account, trip, family-collaboration, analytics and device data.

Privacy by design: Packminder keeps travel-document files on your own device, does not sell personal data and does not store raw trip prompts in its product analytics.

What we collect

Packminder can be used without an account. Your current trip, checklist state, packing progress, theme and optional guest preferences may be stored in your browser so the experience can survive refreshes and temporary loss of connection.

If you create an account, Packminder may process your email address, authentication identifiers, optional display name and profile photo, saved trip details, dates, destination, luggage, activities, accommodation, packing progress and optional packing preferences you choose to provide.

If a Packminder Pro organiser creates a Family Trip, Packminder may also process traveller names or labels, traveller type, individual packing-list state and progress, shared family items, optional packing preferences and the email address used for a private invitation. An invited person is connected only after signing in with the invited email address and accepting a valid invitation.

If you leave a review, Packminder processes the star rating, optional written comment, where the feedback was submitted and, for signed-in users, an internal account identifier. Public review displays do not show your email address or internal account identifier.

Product analytics

If you choose to allow optional first-party analytics on your browser, Packminder uses it to understand whether the service is working and being used. Analytics can include an anonymous browser identifier, session identifier, page path, referral/source information, campaign parameters, device class, browser, operating system, broad country code supplied at the network edge, engagement time and events such as creating a packing list.

Packminder does not create its analytics browser identifier until you actively allow product analytics. Analytics is designed to exclude authorised Admin browsers and obvious automated crawlers, and a consenting browser is only counted as a qualified visitor after real interaction or a short period of visible use. Raw packing-list prompts and travel-document contents are not stored in the analytics event stream. You can withdraw the analytics choice for that browser at any time from the Cookies & Browser Storage page.

Why we use data

  • to create, personalise and save packing lists;
  • to keep packing progress available across devices when signed in;
  • to provide Family Trips, separate traveller lists, organiser progress views and shared family items;
  • to remember optional packing preferences you deliberately provide;
  • to provide weather-aware and travel-related information you request;
  • to prevent abuse, keep the service secure and troubleshoot faults;
  • to understand genuine product usage and feedback and improve Packminder;
  • to process a Pro subscription where paid checkout is available.

Lawful bases

The lawful basis depends on the feature and purpose. Packminder may process account, saved-trip, Family Trip and subscription information where it is necessary to provide a service you request or take steps you ask for; use legitimate interests for proportionate service security, abuse prevention and essential product operation; process information to meet a legal obligation where one applies; and rely on consent for optional first-party product analytics and other processing where a specific choice is required. You can withdraw the analytics choice for that browser from the Cookies & Browser Storage Policy.

Travel documents stored on your device

The Documents feature is a local convenience wallet. Boarding passes, tickets, booking PDFs, Wallet passes and travel images added there are stored in browser storage on the device you are using. Packminder does not intentionally upload or retain the document file itself on Packminder servers.

Browser/device storage can be cleared, reset, evicted or become unavailable. Keep the original airline app, email, booking-provider copy or another reliable backup. Do not use Packminder as your only copy of an essential travel document. Passport/ID scans and other highly sensitive documents are better kept in your normal secure wallet or provider.

Family Trips and invitations

Family Trip invitation links are private access links. Packminder stores a cryptographic hash of the invitation token rather than the usable token itself. Where an invitation is tied to an email address, the signed-in email must match before the traveller list can be connected. Organisers can see the packing progress and traveller information needed to manage their Family Trip. Invited travellers are intended to access and update their own traveller list.

Do not put passwords, passport numbers, payment-card details, medical records or other highly sensitive information into packing-list items or shared family items.

Profile photos

Optional uploaded profile photos are stored in private cloud storage with user-specific access controls. Packminder uses temporary signed links to display uploaded photos rather than making the stored files publicly accessible.

Service providers

Packminder currently uses Cloudflare for hosting, edge services and, when available, AI-assisted trip interpretation; Supabase for authentication, account data, saved trips, reviews, analytics and private storage; Visual Crossing for weather data; Stripe for hosted subscription checkout and billing where Pro payments are enabled; and Resend for Family Trip invitation email where email delivery is configured. If you choose Google sign-in, Google participates in that authentication flow.

Only the information needed for the requested feature is sent to a provider. For example, weather requests include the relevant location and dates. Local Documents file contents are not intentionally sent to these providers by the Documents feature.

International data transfers

Some service providers may process personal data outside the United Kingdom. Where UK data-protection law requires a safeguard for an international transfer, Packminder relies on an applicable lawful mechanism made available for that processing, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual safeguards. Provider locations and transfer arrangements can change, so Packminder reviews this information when providers or processing materially change.

Browser storage

Packminder uses local storage, session storage and IndexedDB for functions such as local trip recovery, packing state, preferences, analytics identifiers, authentication support and locally stored travel documents. See the Cookies & Browser Storage Policy for more detail.

Payments

Where Packminder Pro checkout is available, card details are entered on Stripe-hosted checkout rather than being collected by Packminder. Packminder stores the billing identifiers and subscription status needed to provide and manage Pro access, but does not store full card details.

How long we keep data

Local browser data remains subject to the browser/device's storage rules and may remain until it is replaced, cleared by you, removed by a Packminder control or removed by the browser/device. Account, saved-trip, Family Trip, invitation, review, analytics and packing-preference data is retained while needed for the service, security, legitimate product operation or legal obligations. Invitation links can expire or be revoked.

Reviews and public feedback

When you submit a review, the rating and optional comment may be displayed publicly on Packminder and may contribute to Packminder's aggregate rating shown to users and search engines. Public review output does not expose your account email or internal user identifier. Packminder may hide written content where needed for spam, abuse, privacy, safety or legal reasons.

Sharing and selling

Packminder does not sell personal data. Information is shared only where needed to operate a requested feature, with people you deliberately connect to through Family Trips where the feature requires it, where content is clearly submitted for public display, or where disclosure is required by law.

Your choices and rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, and to receive certain data in a portable form. You can clear local Packminder data using browser controls and can leave a Family Trip you joined. Account-specific requests may require identity verification before changes can be made.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how personal data is handled, you can raise it with Packminder and you also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). The ICO can be contacted at Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF, by telephone on 0303 123 1113, or through its complaints service.

Security

Packminder uses authenticated access controls, row-level database security, private storage, scoped Family Trip permissions and server-side handling of secret service credentials. No online or local-storage system can promise absolute security or availability, so avoid adding sensitive information Packminder does not need.

Changes to this policy

This page will be updated when Packminder's features, providers or data handling materially change.
